Apologies to my mother and a handful of other people who might be reading this for taking so long to write a post, but I have spent this summer, when I haven't been taking care of Pressing Events, trying to increase my people skills ...so, this Blog has been on the back shelf and getting a tad dusty.

The time to return to Houston is fast upon us and I need to post the final reveal on Anniversary Haus. It is done and being enjoyed. We are pleased and our last guest requested we not move any more. (I will work diligently on overcoming my flipper urges.)
I have finally gotten Mike's safari photos rendered, printed and framed. The heads are all mounted and the zebras are on the floor. All but one child's family has visited so that means the picture frames all feature current photos of forced family fun! haha
I remain most pleased with the log/shiplap look in the dining room. It defines the space and serves as an awesome background for the majolica, pinecone etchings and linen drapes. Throw in some Blue & White, some Parkhill Collection and a Bougainvilla preserved arrangement and voila!
This was the inspiration photo of an actual cabin that was moved from Tennessee along with 2 others to Texas. The architect for our Bee Cave home transformed this cabin and two others. So what you see here is in fact logs and chinking...ahh, truly beautiful, but ours is the poor-man's version.
The photos I took in Switzerland have now been rendered as sepias, printed on the wide-format printer and framed, Grindelwald, the Matterhorn, Mt. Eiger, and one gorgeous Swiss valley have found pride of place here in our attempt at a Tyrollean home.
This is the before photo showing the great room as it was when we first saw the house in Spring 2015.
And here it is with our changes. It is not an overly large space but the armless Sherrill chairs purchased at The Nest (our local consignment shop) fit in perfectly. Much was left by the previous owner that we did not need. I have talked about The Nest in a previous post. How fortunate are we to have a business that will come remove the furniture we no longer want...for free, and then send you a check when it sells. Easy-Peasy, huh?
I managed to place a game table next to the window which was a priority since there is no better spot to watch the fly fishers on the Eagle River while working on a puzzle and sipping a morning coffee.
Quite a bit was changed and updated in the Keeping Room off of the kitchen. We took out a good portion of the bookcases to make way for the fireplace and the television. We spend more time here than any other part of the house.
The sectional sofa is from Best Slipcovers as are the faux cowhide ottomans. The rug is Dash&Albert. The fireplace is a stone facade with a log insert. There is no vent but instead features a log set which burns alcohol gel fuel *sold in our shop.
The master bedroom got a new faux fireplace with bookcases on either side as well as replacing the carpeting.
The faux fireplace is really all we require as a true fire becomes too warm in very a short
time. The bedding is all Traditions Linens also offered at Pressing Events. The entire room was designed around the Anne Becker pillows from Paris.
The log set contains a tray that holds 3 separate cans of fuel. The average burn time is 3 hours. We order our gel by the case.
Our downstairs is affectionately referred to as Mike's Man Cave. You may read more about it in my previous post here.
This is the upstairs Loft pre-remodel. While out seeing real estate in the lead up to purchasing this property we saw another home featuring a fabulous office area.
We did our best to re-create it in this space.
The peninsula affords both Mike and I a place to work while in the mountains.
I am so happy to have FINALLY rendered and framed Mike's photos from his 2013 Safari. These photos were low resolution but thanks to my Adobe, Topaz and Corel software I was able to print them on our new Epson wide-format printer at the store and frame them. Hoping you are able to see Mike with his Zebra on the far wall. And, yes, I still have all of my albums from my teenage years...who else loved Lesley Gore!?! And that is another Dash&Albert rug as was the leopard rug in the Great Room.
And now for the final reveal...NO, we did not opt to keep the Pepto Bismal walls, yuck!
Oh how much fun I had transforming this room into a Princess Palace for our four precious Grand Girls!
Please look closely as this is my MacKenzie-Childs Dream Space, from the rugs to the pillows, to the Farm lights, footstools and floor lamp. And our Sugar Boo Designs compliments all of it.
But of course, I had to re-do their bathroom with a Fish Sink and MacKenzie-Childs wallpaper.
